Sven and Tijs deny talk show hijacking

Sven Kockelmann and Tijs van den Brink deny that they are secretly working on hijacking Op1. They do not want to work five days a week and that means mass layoffs are out of the question.

It is no secret that TV stars want to work less and less: Eva Jinek has become more or less the figurehead of this. RTL 4 recruited her to become the face of the late evening, but she was on holiday so often that the channel ultimately opted for a pool of four presenters. Yet Op1 takes the cake with up to ten (!) hosts.

Blowing up on 1?

The Friday Op1 recently has a brand new duo, namely Sven Kockelmann and Tijs van den Brink. TV tiger shark Angela de Jong has speculated that those two might blow up the whole of Op1 and continue together at the time of that talk show, but they now contradict that.

Sven and Tijs are not going to ensure the dismissal of their many fellow presenters. “Well, no, to start with, I present a radio program, just like you,” says Tijs during a double interview with Sven in The Telegraph.

On with Fidan

Sven agrees with this. “Yes, I attach great importance to that. And also a big thank you to Fidan Ekiz, with whom I sit on Thursday. You are also stuck with Margje Fikse, with whom you spend Tuesdays.”

Tijs: “Moreover, think about the viewer. We do political broadcasts five days a week? People are going crazy. And I don’t want to present a talk show every day. I found Knevel & Van den Brink really difficult.”

Exhale

Sven teasingly: “By Andries?”

Tijs: “No, no! But I was exhausted at the weekend and after eight weeks you were able to pick me up. I always have a significant energy dip the day after an Op1 broadcast. Then I have given everything and I often sleep short. So I don’t want a five-day date with you.”

Sven: “Well, we’re done.”
