At the club since 2019
Dennis Diekmeier will stay with SV Sandhausen beyond the current season. The 32-year-old captain extended his contract, which ended in June, until 2024 – this was officially announced by the second division team during the home game against Dynamo Dresden on Sunday.
“I’m very happy that we were able to bind Dennis to SV Sandhausen as an integration figure. As captain and crowd favourite, he has become a fixture at Hardtwald, both for the team and off the field. Special mention should also be made of his financial concessions in extending the contract, which applies to both the 2nd and 3rd divisions. That cannot be taken for granted and shows how Dennis feels about SV Sandhausen,” said sporting director Mikayil Kabaca.
Diekmeier came to SVS in January 2019 and on Sunday played his 103rd game for the second division team, which was 15th in the table. went into the game against the direct competitor. “I had good talks with the club officials and I’m convinced that it’s the right step to continue playing here. I like the club environment and am happy to be able to give something back by helping the club through this difficult time. It is well known that I now feel very comfortable here with my family. The fans play a big part in that too. They’ve given me great support from the start and they do it week after week, it’s just so much fun,” said the right-back.
