Took over in September
SV Sandhausen has extended the contract with coach Alois Schwartz. Before the Friday evening game against FC Schalke 04 (6:30 p.m.), the second division team announced the signing until June 30, 2024. The 55-year-old took over the SVS in September last year for the second time after 2013 and is about to stay up. Three games before the end, the lead over 16th place in the table was six points (for overview).
“Alois has managed to instill in our team the sporting values of SVS such as greed, passion, irrepressible will to win, fighting spirit and team spirit. With his clear strategy, he has played a large part in the current sporting success. It feels like Alois never left. Extending the contract early is therefore a logical consequence,” said SVS President Jürgen Machmeier in the statement.
2 years are enough for rank 3: The 18 second division coaches by tenure
Schwartz, who averaged 1.42 points in 24 games, added: “Working at SV Sandhausen has long since become an affair of the heart for me. My extension at Hardtwald is a matter of course for me, not least because of the trusting cooperation with the club officials. In the future, we will continue to pool our strengths and tackle things together so that second division football can continue to be seen in the Hardtwald in the years to come.”
