SV Elversberg in the 3rd league on course ascension record – planning for ascent

Planning is progressing

The SV 07 Elversberg is in the 3rd league on the march – and on a record course. After 24 games, the Saarlanders have 57 points on their account, which has not been achieved by any promoted team in the German professional leagues before. Even 1. FC Kaiserslautern only managed 53 points in the 1997/98 championship season.

In the fight for direct promotion places, SVE is currently 17 points ahead of VfL Osnabrück in fourth place, while SC Freiburg, who are currently second, are not allowed to move up (to the table). The demands of the promoted have naturally grown, similar to Union Berlin in the Bundesliga, but big sounds are left to other clubs.

“Anything can happen,” said successful coach Horst Steffen recently on “Magenta Sport”. “I certainly still have doubts because I’ve experienced a lot in football.” Attacker Nick Woltemade also emphasized in the TM interview: “As a sportsman you always want to win and always be first. And when you’re ahead by such a distance, then of course you want to stay first. But we’ve said it again and again: We’re promoted and we have to get back on the field and step on the gas every week. Only then do we really have a chance. If we manage to do this as we have done so far, we are on the right track.”

Of course, the competition sees this differently because of the lead at the top. For Dynamo coach Markus Anfang, SV Elversberg has already been promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. “They have a 17-point lead. I don’t think they’ll let that go. Not to mention that other teams still get so many points that they can still catch them,” said the 48-year-old before the duel last weekend, which ended 1-1.

Elversberg is a well-established team. “The players have also been working together with a coach for a long time. I think Horst Steffen does it very well. You can see his handwriting. He knows exactly what he needs for players and he got them. He built it up bit by bit, he was given the time to do it, and then it cannot be denied that you can be successful if you can work long-term,” stressed Beginning.

Stadium question and 13 ending contracts: SV Elversberg plans for promotion

For the possible first ascent, the planning must be pushed ahead. The SVE submitted the license documents by March 1st for both the 3rd and 2nd leagues. With a view to the squad, those responsible have to sit down with 13 players whose contracts expire at the end of the season. In addition, the stadium question is in focus.

The local Ursapharm Arena on the Kaiserlinde with a capacity of 10,000 spectators is too small for the lower house, 15,000 seats are required. Therefore, Elversberg has reported the Saarbrücken Ludwigsparkstadion (16,003 spectators) as an alternative venue. However, the SVE wants to try to be allowed to stay in the Ursapharm Arena with a special permit during the renovation phase. For around 13 million euros, the minimum capacity is to be achieved over the next two or three years by demolishing and rebuilding two grandstands.

“Yes, we reported the Ludwigspark as an alternative stadium. Despite this, we are trying with all our might to play in our stadium and will make every effort to do so. We are in very good contact with the DFB, DFL and also with the building authorities,” says Vice President Swen Hoffmann of the “Picturequoted.
