Hannover 96’s negative series continues: the Lower Saxony must also be beaten in Darmstadt. It is already the third defeat in a row.
After a second sleep in the first minute, Hannover 96 was likely to play his last chance of promotion. The Lower Saxony lost at Darmstadt 98 on Easter Sunday 1: 3 (0: 1) and are four games far behind the relegation place before the end of the season. Darmstadt can consider himself saved.
Hannover absolutely needed a victory for a last mini chance of third place in the table, but the start was a disaster. A false pass from Fabian Kunze in a free kick in midfield, we went in the wrong direction – and Fraser Hornby scored for Darmstadt after only 30 seconds. Andreas Voglsammer (82nd) equalized, but Killian Corredor (83rd) gave the lead again. Hornby (90.+2) made everything clear with a penalty.
96 had caught up after the bad start and pushed for the equalization in the first half. A slipped flank from left -back Bartlomiej Wdowik went to the top edge of the Torlatte (30th), Enzo Leopold shot just by 25 meters (36th).
After the break, both teams fought a gripping duel – with the better end for the home side from Darmstadt.
