Mick Schumacher celebrated his second podium in the long-distance World Cup (WEC). The 26-year-old steered the alpine with the start number 36 at the six-hour race of Imola thanks to a strong race strategy and a constant performance in third place.
Already sixth in qualifying meant a top result for Schumacher and his French team in the WEC.
At the start of the season in Qatar, the former Formula 1 driver and its two French teammates Frédéric Makowiecki and Jules Gounon were still missing the points.
The victory in Imola went again to Ferrari, this time to the trio Antonio Giovinazzi, Alessandro Pier Guidi (both Italy) and James Calado (Great Britain).
The third of eight runs will take place on May 10th at the six-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps, the highlight of the season is the 24 hours of Le Mans on June 14th and 15th.
In his debut season in the WEC, Schumacher won the first podium for alpine in Fuji in Japanese in Japanese.
The French ultimately convinced him of an extension of the contract, the German has said goodbye to Formula 1 for the time being: he gave up his place as a replacement and test pilot at Mercedes at the end of last season to completely concentrate on the long distance.
