Suzuki terminates contract with World Cup organizer and leaves MotoGP after this season | NOW

Suzuki will leave MotoGP after this season. The Japanese manufacturer has been in talks with World Cup organizer Dorna since May about dissolving the contract, which was recently extended until 2026. An agreement has now been reached on this.

“Suzuki is taking this step because of the current economic situation and the need to develop new technologies,” said Toshihiro Suzuki, the company’s president.

Suzuki delivered the MotoGP world champion two years ago with Joan Mir and also won the Constructors’ World Championship that year.

Suzuki left MotoGP earlier in late 2011, but returned to the premier class four years later.

The Spaniards Mir and Álex Rins are the driver duo of the team this season. Mir occupies eighth place in the World Cup standings after eleven races, one place above his compatriot.
