Suzanne Otters (51) will be the new mayor of Son en Breugel

Suzanne Otters-Bruijnen will be the new mayor of the municipality of Son en Breugel. The city council nominated her on Monday evening as successor to the outgoing Hans Gaillard. Otters is now a provincial administrator with traffic in her portfolio, among other things.

From 2006, Otters was a councilor for nine years and later chairman of the party for the VVD in the municipality of Vught. From August 2019 to January last year, she was Vice President of the Provincial Council in Den Bosch.

‘Best candidate’
According to the confidential committee and the city council, Otters is the best candidate: she fits in perfectly with the profile and, according to the city council, can be a figurehead for Son en Breugel.

“As a person she is powerful, resolute and pleasant to deal with”, is how the new mayor is described. “She is socially involved and has a genuine interest in the other person. The city council sees her as an inspiring administrator, a self-confident representative in the region and a convincing advocate of public order and safety.”

Still need formal approval
Suzanne Otters-Bruijnen is expected to be installed as mayor of Son en Breugel on April 11 in an extraordinary council meeting. Gaillard will retire on April 1. The Minister of the Interior and the King still have to formally approve the appointment.
