Suzan & Freek in new The Voice? ‘Phew, come up with something new!’

The Voice of Holland is so infected that a return is really unlikely in the coming years. Or should we just put Suzan & Freek there? “No, come up with something new!”

Is the talent show The Voice of Holland missed by the people at home? You hardly hear anyone talking about it. Every now and then a committed presenter or coach in the media cries that it is such a shame that the show no longer exists, but that is about it. Why does this program need to be returned at all? Isn’t it a bit worn out?

‘It can go back’

RTL Boulevard had yesterday a whole item built around some internet poll, which would show that most people would like to see the program return. And that seems to be a bit at odds with reality. It is inevitable that Waylon has enlisted all his mistresses to vote for it.

Anyway: what is the purpose of such an item in Boulevard? Has the program been activated to get viewers excited about a return? Or were the items gone? “This is still a successful program abroad. It can simply be returned to the current format,” said show expert Aran Bade.

Suzan & Freek

Too bad for Waylon: he is kicked out of the red chairs by Aran. “I think: The Voice of Holland is such a good program because there is no jury, but coaches who say: ‘Come along, I will guide you.’ I think that one-on-one contact should still be the basis, but no longer with the names we just saw.”

He continues: “No more Waylon, no Glennis Grace, no Ali B – that is not possible, no Marco Borsato. But with new names, for example Susan & Freek, people who have also worked very hard on their career independently. Fleming, for example. Then it could well be possible again.”

And what about Anouk?

Suzan & Freek indeed sound like a safe choice; Freek is stuck with Suzan with a second line, so he can’t do anything behind the scenes anyway.

And what about Anouk? That should be removed too, Aran thinks. “There was a very explosive argument between Waylon and Ali B and she was also in that group. They all knew how strangely explosive things went on there, but they probably did not know about the alleged victims.”

‘Come up with something new!’

If this item is intended to slowly get the viewer used to a Voice return, then colleague Eric de Munck did not get the memo. “I also think it’s a bit over The Voice. It might also be fun to come up with something new. We’ve had Idols, The Voice, maybe one now next step“he says resolutely.

Well, indeed, do we really have to resuscitate a fifteen-year-old TV format at all costs because there is nothing else? Can’t Peter van der Vorst and his associates come up with anything else? It is time for that, Eric concludes: “Creatively speaking, the program was already on its way out, we had already seen it a bit.”
