Debby Gerritsen, columnist for the AD, has hurled a pretty spicy gossip about Suzan & Freek onto national television. “They have an open relationship with each other, don’t they?”
Suzan & Freek were the target of the juice channels in the summer, who spread some juicy gossip about them. The spicy rumor about an alleged affair between Freek and Maan de Steenwinkel was particularly popular. They would have made love in a broom closet after a Friends of Amstel Live concert.
Open relationship?
The juice channel Juice Channel eventually reported that Suzan & Freek would have an open relationship. “So they can occasionally have an adventure with someone else. Most sources also tell us that especially Freek is the one who likes to enjoy it.”
Although Suzan & Freek have built a whole image around their apparently traditional love affair, in reality the two are much naughtier than they appear, according to the juice channel.
Debby gossips
AD columnist Debby Gerritsen decided to spread that gossip on national television yesterday at the talk show HLF8. That included the Suzan & Freek documentary announced by Netflix. “There are also stories that they have an open relationship, right? For something juice to throw in.”
Ronald Molendijk cynically: “The documentary is becoming more and more interesting.”
Presenter Leonie ter Braak: “Who says that? Is that right?”
Debby: “Yes, I sometimes hear something.”
‘Only Freek?’
Jort Kelder responded to this: “Or does Freek only have an open relationship?”
Debby: “Yes, that’s often the case, isn’t it, in an open relationship?”
At least they are not very impressed with Suzan & Freek in HLF8. “I actually wonder who Suzan & Freek are, but okay. Are those people really interesting? What’s exciting about Suzan & Freek?” says Jort.
Revenue model
According to Ronald, Suzan & Freek are not at all documentary-worthy. “It’s a revenue model, but of course they don’t deserve a documentary in any way when you’re so young and so happy together. There has to be some kind of lower limit,” he says.
What kind of lower limit? “Keith Richards, for example, is documentary worthy. Then you have a life, then you have been refused entry to America, you have fled, then.”
“Who’s a fan?”
Columnist Yesim Candan doesn’t like Suzan & Freek. “Who’s a fan of them?! Not me. Who listens to Suzan & Freek? I don’t know anyone who listens to them in my area. I’ve never heard a song from them. They’re not that interesting.”
Ah, and that from Ferry Doedens’s best friend. Then again, that’s mental.
Finally, Ronald Molendijk: “Suzan & Freek is just a bit of the white bread of music.”
