This Liberation Day is not only freedom, but also sustainability an important message at the Liberation Festival in Haarlem. Ilse Zaal, deputy for economy of Noord-Holland, states that sustainability is also a form of freedom. “Sustainability is also freedom: freedom for the environment, plants and animals.”
The festival lives up to its word by recycling all cups. Hall: “They have a very nice system here, the cups and coins are made of recyclable plastic. In this way we also keep the festival site clean, it is really spotless here.”
In this way, the festival wants to draw attention to food waste and the reuse of raw materials. Zaal is very happy with how the festival is turning out: “It is so fantastic that we can now celebrate freedom again. It is accessible and free for everyone.”
