Suspicious shooting incident Stuivekenskerke has been arrested

The suspect will be arraigned on Tuesday. The shooting happened around nine o’clock on Sunday evening on the IJzerdijk, between the Schoorbakkebrug and the Tervaetebrug. The public prosecutor and the police arrived on the scene, and an investigating judge also arrived at the scene of the shooting incident.

At the time of the shooting, the victim was not riding his motorcycle but was standing next to it. The man was found after the shooting incident next to his parked motorcycle. A dozen shell casings were found on the ground. The man from Koekelare was probably hit by at least six bullets. A weapons expert, a medical officer and a dismounting team arrived on the scene. The investigation into suspects is still ongoing.

Niels Zutterman from Langemark heard two men arguing. One on a motorcycle and 1 who got out of a van. They drove past moments later. He waved to the motard because he kept neatly to the 50km. And a minute later he heard several shots. He didn’t immediately think of a shooting and rather a field gun. Later he heard the news.
