After the events in the Frankfurter Eintracht game against Salonika, UEFA has now imposed a penalty on the Hessians. The duration of Kristijan Jakic’s ban is also clear.
Eintracht Frankfurt gets the next suspended sentence. UEFA decided on Wednesday that Hesse would have to do without some of its fans at the next international home game if the events of the Conference League home game against PAOK Saloniki were to repeat themselves.
During the 2-1 defeat at the end of November, some fans set off pyrotechnics in the stands of the Waldstadion before the game started. For this, the club has to pay a fine of 40,000 euros. In addition, Eintracht and their fans are on probation from today. This means: If there is another fire in the stands within the next two years, standing blocks 36, 38, 40 and 42 will be closed for a home game – this is where the Eagles’ loud-voiced fans usually stand.
Memories of the Champions League season
Already last year the Frankfurters received a suspended sentence spoke out against himself after the two fan camps fired fireworks at each other during the Champions League game in Marseille. Because pyrotechnics were set off again against Naples, UEFA’s penalty took effect.
Suspension for Kristijan Jakic clear
As part of UEFA’s current decision, the punishment for Frankfurt’s defensive player Kristijan Jakic was also determined: He received a yellow-red card in stoppage time in the game against the Greeks, then attacked the referee and was hardly even surrounded by his own teammates to break. Jakic was also suspended for two games for this unsportsmanlike behavior.
The third part of the judgment stipulates that Eintracht must pay a fine of 10,000 euros for “the invasion of the field of play”, as UEFA’s judgment literally states. A fan ran onto the pitch during the game against the Greeks and had to be led down again by the stewards.
