Feine Sahne Fischfilet released the first song from ALLES GLÄNZT with “Kiddies im Block”. The album, produced by Philipp Hoppen and comprising twelve songs, will be released on May 12th. The music video, shot in the band’s homeland of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, addresses both current political crises and growing up in the economically weak former GDR with a strengthening right wing.

One is greeted in the video by the “father of democratic centralism”, Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov. From a frog’s perspective, the Lenin monument in Schwerin, with the prefab building and the gray sky in the background, looks visually stunning, as if from days long past, and yet depicts a current perspective: the East has been left behind, grey, dreary. Young people run past the statue, one has a baseball bat in his hand and grabs the fugitive. Due to the documentary of the same name, “baseball bat years” is now a frequently used term when it comes to describing right-wing violence in East Germany in the post-reunification years. Multiple voices, such as the “daily mirror“, believe that this wave of violence may have subsided, but it is far from over and the years are still having an impact today. A topic that Feine Sahne Fischfilet often talked about and which also affected them. “And the kiddies in the block/play ‘City of God’,” says the refrain and refers to the Brazilian film about growing up between violence and poverty.

“‘Kiddies in the Block’: Between madness and sadness. Between all the glamor and so much shit. Between all the great moments and all the shit of growing up in the provinces. In the last few years, so many people from our environment have been shitted: in terms of coal, mentally, physically. The full program: Corona, war, inflation, the fascists are getting stronger and a lot just feels like a movie. Many have left MV, few have come back,” says a press release.

With the new album, the punk band will be playing nine “Komm mit aufs Boot” open air shows and festival appearances in Austria and Switzerland between May 19th and August 26th.

Last year, the band around singer Jan “Monchi” Gorkow came under criticism due to anonymous allegations, published under the name “Keiner muss Tauber sein”, of abusive behavior and abuse of power towards women. Former members of the band also expressed themselves critically and indirectly confirmed the allegations.
