Suspects fatal stabbing during festival remain detained for 14 days longer

The suspects of the fatal stabbing at the Solid Grooves festival last weekend in Amsterdam will remain detained for 14 days longer. That is what the court has just decided. 21-year-old Jimmy Schepers was killed in the stabbing. Two others were injured, but are out of danger.

After the stabbing, two 20-year-old Amsterdammers were immediately arrested on the festival site, a day after the festival another suspect was arrested for involvement in the stabbing. The men are suspected of co-perpetration of manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, public violence, robbery with violence and extortion. The suspects are all in custody.

The motive for the stabbing is not yet known, but according to the Telegraph there would have been an argument over sunglasses.

Three men were stabbed during the stabbing. It concerns a 22-year-old man from Nieuwegein and a 24-year-old man from Amsterdam. The third victim, 21-year-old Jimmy Schepers from Diemen, died of his injuries in hospital.

Dozens of people paid tribute to the death of 21-year-old Jimmy Schepers on Tuesday. Acquaintances and friends of Jimmy and his family gathered at his family’s restaurant, where a memorial has now been created of flowers, candles and photos. The restaurant is closed for now.

Relatives and friends of Jimmy earlier this week called on social media for images of the stabbing to be sent to the police. “We hope to find out our little brother’s killer asap!”, his sisters Jaimy and Kelly wrote on Instagram.
