The Public Prosecution Service will prosecute the 32-year-old man who was arrested this week for a fatal assault on the grounds of the Lentis mental health institution in Zuidlaren. He is suspected of manslaughter or aggravated assault resulting in the death of a 48-year-old fellow citizen.
That is what the Public Prosecution Service announced today.
On Tuesday evening, the seriously injured victim was found in a building on the Dennenoord site. He died a day later in hospital from his injuries. The police arrested the 32-year-old suspect from Zuidlaren that same day. He will remain in custody for the next fourteen days, it was decided today.
Neither the police nor the Public Prosecution Service could say anything about the relationship between the suspect and the victim. They also did not want to say anything about what exactly happened at Dennenoord. The institution treats people with psychiatric problems, among other things.
