Suspect threatens officers with a bread knife during arrest

A man from Raamsdonksveer threatened a number of police officers with a bread knife on Saturday night. The man walked down the stairs in his house on the gangway with the knife in the direction of the officers. This happened when the officers wanted to arrest him after he allegedly threw a beer glass through the window of a car from a terrace on Wilhelminalaan earlier that night.

Ultimately, the officers managed to arrest the suspect. This succeeded after one of them threatened with an electroshock weapon. The suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The report of throwing the beer glass at a car was received by the police just after midnight. Witnesses reported it to the police. They also started chasing the man. This all the way to his house on the Gangslaan.

Night in the cell
When the police arrived at the house, the man came down the stairs with the bread knife. He walked towards the officers. When one of the officers threatened with an electroshock weapon, the suspect took his chances and the officers were able to arrest him.

The man spent the night at the station. The investigation is continuing to deal with the case, the police indicate.
