Suspect of overthrowing former minister Sander Dekker released

The woman who is suspected of having pulled former minister Sander Dekker from his bicycle has been released. A police spokesperson confirmed this on Thursday. The investigation into the incident has not yet been completed. The 42-year-old woman from Monster will have to answer to a judge at a later time, the spokesperson says.

Dekker, former Minister for Legal Protection (VVD), was seriously injured and taken to hospital on Tuesday evening after falling from his racing bike. He is said to have been knocked over after being “tagged or grabbed,” police said on Wednesday. The suspect was arrested after talks with eyewitnesses. The police suspect her from inflicting grievous bodily harm or assault resulting in grievous bodily harm.

Dekker suffered several broken bones as a result of the fall. It is not yet known whether he has already left the hospital.
