Suspect of driving over and stabbing man at Berkhout gas station denies having stabbed

According to the Public Prosecution Service, it is clear. Hodiyan H. (22) and a co-defendant tried to kill the victim at a gas station in an extremely violent manner. They allegedly ran over, kicked and then stabbed the victim.

Today Hodiyan H. had to appear during an interim hearing in the Haarlem court. The Horinese was nervous, he said. “It’s my first time sitting here.”

A lot of violence

About why it’s at the gas station on February 25th to so much violence came, nothing became clear today. About what must have happened. According to the officer The victim was first knocked over, then run over and dragged along. Then the man, a 28-year-old man from Wijdenes, was kicked and stabbed near his heart.

Bleeding, he manages to reach the store of the gas station where the emergency services are called. That the victim can retell it can therefore be called a miracle. The resident from Wijdenes is not present at the hearing today.

The Public Prosecution Service speaks of intent and accuses Hodiyan H. and his 24-year-old co-defendant from Hoorn of attempted manslaughter.

‘I never urged anyone to stab’

H. tells today in court that he is not responsible for the stabbing. “I never urged anyone to stab, saw nothing.” He does say that he has become aware of his actions. “In detention I had time to think. I want to go to school, live with my girlfriend.”

According to his lawyer, there is no reason to keep H. in custody any longer. The investigation would not have shown that he was the one who had stabbed. But according to the officer, the severity of the violence is enough reason not to release him.

H. himself announced that he wanted to cooperate with all conditions that the probation service deems necessary. And there are quite a few. This included a duty to report, outpatient treatment, a ban on contact and location, not being allowed to move without permission and starting daytime activities, the judge summed up. “I want to move on with my life. And in detention I can’t go on with my life,” said the suspect in response.

Second suspect also in court

Tomorrow it will become clear whether H. should remain in pre-trial detention longer. If so, he must appear again in an interim hearing on December 23. This is because the investigation has not yet been completed. The second suspect must report to the court for the first time on October 17.
