Suspect in the Belgian section of the Paris attacks: “I’ve done stupid things, but I’m no longer an idiot” | Inland

Mohamed Rabioui was interrogated during the trial concerning the Belgian part of the investigation into the attacks of 13 November 2015 in Paris. The man was staying in Morocco at the time of the facts, but had contacts with several suspects of the attacks. “But I have nothing to do with that,” said the 33-year-old man. “I’ve done stupid things, but not this. I’m not a crap anymore.”

“I left for Morocco in 2014, just before Ramadan, because I didn’t want to go back to prison,” said Rabioui. “I needed other air. After the attacks, the Moroccan authorities arrested me and sentenced me to four years in prison for watching Al-Jazeera and knowing people who had left for Syria. I received a lighter sentence on appeal, but actually I have nothing to do with those attacks.”

The court subsequently confronted Rabioui with the various contacts he had with Brahim Abdeslam, Youssef Bazarouj, and Ahmad Dahmani. Rabioui minimized those contacts and reiterated time and again that he had nothing to do with terrorism.

“Not paid attention to”

“I was in touch with Dahmani and Bazarouj through Facebook, but I paid no attention to the IS propaganda they published or forwarded,” the man said. “It is also not true that after the attacks I would have been given two photos to make a false passport. He never forwarded it to me, nor could I help him with a passport. The man who supplied that passport has also been arrested and I have never had contact with him.”

“Mohamed Abrini and Ahmed Dahmani have been extensively questioned in this file and have both stated that I had nothing to do with it,” Rabioui concluded.
