Suspect in Huizer murder case Bovenmaatweg still not interrogated due to medical situation

The 37-year-old Amsterdam resident suspected of murdering a 53-year-old woman in Huizen has still not been interrogated. This became apparent during the second pro forma session. Due to his medical background, it proves to be logistically very difficult for the interrogation to take place. It is unclear what his medical problems are.

The Amsterdammer walked into the police station of Den Bosch in Brabant on August 25 around 8 p.m. to declare that there was a dead person in a duplex house on Bovenmaatweg in Huizen. When the body of a 53-year-old woman was indeed found there, the man was immediately arrested.

The suspect’s lawyer stated during the first pro forma hearing in December that his client suspected that the woman had died, which prompted him to report to the Den Bosch police station. The suspect and the victim were known to each other, but there was no question of a romantic relationship, according to the defense.

During the same preliminary hearing in December, the Public Prosecution Service announced that it suspected the Amsterdam resident of murdering – or manslaughter – the woman. He allegedly did this by ‘smothering’ her, another word for suffocating her. After murdering the woman, he also allegedly made off with her mobile phone, television, car, debit card and ANWB pass.

No interrogation

The suspect is back in the Lelystad court on Friday afternoon. The man has been in custody since his arrest and is still waiting to be admitted to the Pieter Baan Center (PBC) for examination. We still have to wait for this because the suspect will be operated on in a week and the PBC wants to wait until the medication has been reduced. It is unclear what medical problems the suspect has. His lawyer does not want to say anything about it for privacy reasons.

Thanks to these medical problems, the suspect has still not been interrogated. That turns out to be very difficult logistically. The suspect does indicate that he would like to be interrogated as quickly as possible. “I want to tell my story,” he says in court.
