Suspect arrested for murder of 64-year-old woman from Ostend
The investigation started when a lifeless body was discovered on Tuesday, March 21 at the Emmabaan in the Zeeland border village of Koewacht. The first findings quickly showed that the woman may have been killed by force. After identification, it turned out to be a 64-year-old woman from Ostend. A 33-year-old acquaintance of the victim quickly came into the eye of the investigators as a suspect.

Elvir S. was signaled internationally and could be apprehended at Düsseldorf airport. After almost a month and a half in a German cell, the suspect was handed over to our country on Wednesday. He was questioned by the police and then brought before the investigating judge. He decided Friday to arrest him. The Bruges council chamber will have to decide on Tuesday whether or not the thirty-year-old should remain in prison.
