A night shop on Lucien Gaudinstraat in Amsterdam-Noord was robbed tonight. The suspect was arrested by officers a few streets away soon after the robbery.
The evening shop was robbed by the suspect around 7:30 p.m. The robber entered the store with a knife and then fled in the direction of Banneplein. The robber was arrested by the police shortly afterwards on the Parlevinkerpad.
The officers quickly caught the suspect because they were still in the area. Half an hour earlier, someone had tried to steal things at a supermarket on Banneplein. Motorcycle officers found the suspect based on descriptions. A police spokesperson said that a Taser was used, but that it did not have to be used because the suspect surrendered quite quickly. The police are investigating whether the robbery and the attempted theft are related.
