Suspect (17) of sending threatening email to Bilthoven school released again | NOW

The seventeen-year-old boy who was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of sending a threatening email to a school community in Bilthoven was released on Tuesday. Spokespersons for the Public Prosecution Service (OM) and the police confirm this after reporting from RTV Utrecht

Students from De Werkplaats Kinderbedrijven received an e-mail last Tuesday with the text: “I’m going to shoot you all. Enjoy your life for a while.” A photo of a firearm was also sent.

On the advice of the Public Prosecution Service, the police and the municipality, the school remained closed on Thursday and Friday. It is not yet clear what the suspect’s connection to the school is.

The teenager from Oirschot has not been brought before the examining magistrate. According to the Public Prosecution Service, this was chosen because he is a minor, has no criminal record and because nothing would have shown that he actually intended to carry out his threat.

A spokesperson also said there is no fear of a repeat. The boy remains a suspect in the ongoing investigation.
