Head coach of the Finnish national basketball team Lassi Tuovi gets to work for the NBA club Utah Jazz for the summer.
Tuovi is one of the visiting coaches who will help the team in the summer league in July. The star player of the team and the hero of the national team Lauri Markkanen is not part of the player group, as are many of the other key figures in Jazz.
The purpose of the summer league is to develop especially the team’s newly reserved players. Tuovi brings a European perspective to the exercises.
The head coach tells Yle that the short coaching stint in Utah serves both the NBA and Susijeng. He describes the gap between the teams as getting even stronger. One common factor is Markkanen, who is Susijeng’s most important piece in the upcoming World Championships.
– This is very useful for Susijeng, that I can exchange a lot of information and clarify things from both sides. Lauri will be quite a big piece for both parties in the future, Tuovi commented In Yle’s news article.
Jantunen to the Warriors

In the years 2019–2021, played in Utah at the university level Mikael Jantunen, 23, is getting a great opportunity after being drafted into the Golden State Warriors summer league roster. According to the Basketball Association’s announcement, Jantunen had attended the Warriors’ three-day test camp and was then allowed to continue in the summer league.
– Apparently, I managed to do my own thing at the Warriors’ minicamp when such an invitation came once. I take this as an opportunity to develop even more and my intention is not to take pictures in the summer league. I believe that I can help my team win even in the summer league, Jantunen commented in the press release.
Jantuse, who is over two meters tall, has his first season behind him in the Italian Basket Treviso.
Before the start of the summer series, the Warriors have two practice games against the Sacramento Kings. The summer league will be played in Las Vegas from the 7th to the 17th. July.
Finns have played in the summer league before Hanno Möttölä, Petteri Koponen, Erik Murphy and Markkanen.
