Presenter Susanna Laine has a long career in the media industry. He recalls Aki Linnanahti in the podcast Aki Linnanahde Talkshow from the beginning of his career as a Youchat presenter.

Before participating in the Miss Games, Laine, in her twenties, had seen a job advertisement at Helsingin Sanomat for a vacant night chat presenter. Young Laine was working in the theater at the time as an assistant and thought she might be suitable as a presenter for television.

Laine was selected as the presenter of Pulssi-chat, where he was still a TV and media person Jaajo Linnonmaa, who was still in the early stages of his career. He recalls that he has toured with Linnonmaa for a year and a half around Finland, hosting the Pulse program. The program came from the TV channel at night with the end of other programs.

– It was kind of a two-hour live broadcast, where you had to give a speech from somewhere. It was my first experience of presenting, Laine recalls.

The program was filmed in a variety of restaurants and bars.

– I have to ask, when you toured all over Finland with Jaajo, did you get a cup? Wasn’t that a terrible roll? The castle man laughs.

– Yeah, that was it, Laine replies amused.

First broadcast

The first live night chat did not go smoothly from Laine. He says he was so excited that he didn’t drink alcohol that night. Just when he had been told to start the evening’s live broadcast, Linnonmaa had left Laine in trouble.

– When the broadcast started, Jaajo stumbled upon something. He must have seen someone I knew and I was left alone. I remember how my pulse went up, you know that feeling when your pulse goes up and blood starts to flow. I was just wondering what I was doing now was going somewhere. Then somehow I figured it out, Laine recalls her first broadcast on Pulse.

Susanna Laine released together on May 25th Terhi Ketola-Huttusen with book The self-esteem of an imperfect woman. In the book, Laine explains, among other things, how she found help in therapy for her problems.

– I went to therapy because I experienced disturbing anxiety about life and the future, general insecurity and a sense of alienation. Surely the experiences of childhood bullying weighed in, Laine says in her book.

Susanna Laine told Iltalehti in an interview in September 2021 what her usual working day is like.
