UTRECHT – The survival rate of cancer patients has risen sharply over the past decade. Of patients who developed cancer between 2001 and 2011, 42 percent died within five years. Thanks to better treatments and diagnoses, this percentage has fallen to 34 percent, the Integrated Cancer Center of the Netherlands (IKLN) reported on Monday.
