Survey: SPD and Greens gain, FDP loses

COLOGNE (dpa-AFX) – According to a new survey, after the state elections in Lower Saxony, the SPD and Greens can gain ground at federal level, while the FDP loses. In the new Germany trend for the ARD “Morgenmagazin”, the Social Democrats come to 19 percent if there are federal elections on Sunday, which is two percentage points more than in the previous survey from the beginning of October. The Greens improve by one point to 20 percent. The third partner in the traffic light coalition, the FDP, on the other hand, falls by one point to 6 percent, according to ARD the lowest value since December 2020. In Lower Saxony, the Liberals had only achieved 4.7 percent according to the preliminary result and thus did not make it into the Parliament done.

The Union would remain the strongest force with 26 percent, but lost two points. The AfD can keep its result of 15 percent, as can the left with 5 percent.

Election polls are generally subject to uncertainties. Among other things, declining party ties and increasingly short-term voting decisions make it difficult for the opinion research institutes to weight the data collected. In principle, surveys only reflect the opinion at the time of the survey and are not a forecast of the outcome of the election. The next federal election is not scheduled until 2025./shy/DP/stw
