BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – A large proportion of German citizens support increased diplomatic efforts by the federal government to end the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. In the current Deutschlandtrend in the ARD “Morgenmagazin”, 26 percent agreed that Germany should make more diplomatic efforts to find a solution to the conflict. Another 34 percent answered “rather yes” to this question – even if that could mean that Ukraine has to make compromises with Russia. Among supporters of the AfD, Left Party and FDP, around four out of ten respondents are “definitely” in favor of increased diplomatic efforts by the federal government. According to ARD, supporters of the other parties represented in the Bundestag are more cautious because they fear possible disadvantages for Ukraine./shy/DP/stw
