Surprising: Yves Vanderhaeghe again head coach KVO
“Yves knows the competition, the club and is a good trainer and people manager who can get the most out of players.” Yves Vanderhaeghe is of course an old acquaintance for KVO. He coached there between 2015 and 2017, then led the club to the cup final and its first-ever European campaign against Marseille. So now he returns to the old nest.
Gauthier Ganaye: “We followed Yves closely because we were very impressed with the way Cercle played under him. His teams are always very well structured and defensively organized, but also have freedom on the offensive. In his most recent experience at Cercle, their pressing was quite similar to ours. In our opinion, the results they are now achieving are the direct result of his good work. During a conversation of several hours I was convinced that he is the right man to take over now. He hardly needs to familiarize himself because he was recently working in our competition. He knows all the clubs, including ours. I was really impressed with how well he could assess our players and their qualities. Yves also proved in the past that he can make players better. He is a good people manager who can deal with various characters. I also realize that he cannot change much in one day, but he will put all his own accents for tomorrow’s game at KV Mechelen. I am looking forward to his way of working and I am convinced that we will have a great time ahead.”
Yves Vanderhaeghe signed a contract until the end of this season. “Continuity within a club is important and that is why the current staff will remain on board, Markus Pflanz will become an assistant again, although it is not excluded that Yves will also bring an assistant with him in the long term. We also don’t want to change trainers every six months, so we will evolve the situation after the season and, if necessary, continue with Yves as trainer.”
Welcome back Yves Vanderhaeghe! @GGanaye : “During a conversation of several hours I was convinced that he is the right man to take over now. Yves also proved in the past that he can make players better.”
