Surprising transfer “back door” at BVB?

Borussia Dortmund could now allegedly continue to seek the services of Ajax Amsterdam’s clearer Edson Alvarez. Most recently, it was said that a transfer to BVB has now been ruled out.

“Sky” reporter Florian Plettenberg reported on Monday via Twitter that an Alvarez move to Dortmund was “not 100 percent off the table”. Dirk Krampe from the “Ruhr Nachrichten” also explained in a video talk of the club-affiliated newspaper that there might be “a small back door” in the personnel.

This speculation comes as a surprise, as it has been said in the past few days that BVB has stopped trying to get Alvarez.

According to media reports, the transfer fee of allegedly more than 40 million euros is too high for those responsible. In addition, coach Edin Terzic spoke out against Alvarez’s commitment, wrote “Bild”. He would rather continue to rely on Emre Can on the six, with whom BVB is said to be currently in talks about extending his contract, which expires in 2024.

Before that, however, Alvarez had been traded as Borussia’s number one option in defensive midfield for weeks. It was even said that there was an agreement with the 25-year-old Mexican on a five-year contract.

BVB looking for midfield reinforcements

In addition, the fact that the new Ajax sports director Sven Mislintat is an old acquaintance in Dortmund spoke in favor of a change to BVB.

The 50-year-old worked in scouting for the German runners-up for many years. There are said to have already been talks between him and Kehl about Alvarez.

BVB is looking for reinforcements for its midfield for the new season. Key player Jude Bellingham left the club for Real Madrid. The versatile Raphael Guerreiro also left the Westphalian team and joined FC Bayern.

Mahmoud Dahoud also moved to Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League after his contract expired.
