Surprising survey of the DFB women

The DFB women’s team is currently thrilling the football world with their European Championship games. However, very few German fans trust them with the big hit.

Six goals in two games and zero goals conceded: The DFB women have been able to convince with two wins from two games at the 2022 European Championship. While the German offensive overran the Danish defense in the first game (4:0), the women impressed against Spain (2:0) with high efficiency and defensive stability.

But how far does the team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg get in the current competition? The opinion research institute Civey asked German football fans the question on behalf of t-online. The result was sobering.

Few football fans trust DFB team convincing EM

Only a good fifth of the 5,001 respondents (21 percent) believe that the German women’s team will make it to the final at this year’s European Championship. A similarly manageable percentage of 22 percent only trusts the DFB women to reach the semi-finals.

The DFB women, who have recently experienced mixed tournaments, are considered unpredictable after the outstanding start to the European Championship in England. This is also reflected in the fans. Almost half of those surveyed do not want to commit themselves to where the team around Captain Alexandra Popp is headed (46 percent).

After all, just 9 percent of German football fans assume that the DFB team will be over in the coming quarter-finals. The squad of national coach Voss-Tecklenburg qualified for the round of the last eight as group winners before the third and final group game against Finland (Saturday, from 9 p.m. in the t-online live ticker).
