The changes at Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba are never ending.
In June it was announced that Alibaba boss Daniel Sang would be replaced at the top of the company, and now the former CEO is leaving the company for good.
Sang was originally slated to lead the company’s new separate cloud computing arm, but nearly two months after announcing his appointment, Alibaba said Monday that Sang is no longer with the company. No reasons were given for his departure.
The restructuring of the group announced in March, which also included the spin-off of six independent business areas – including cloud computing – was seen as Sang’s vision. He worked for the group for 16 years and took on the role of CEO in 2015.
The plans he initiated to spin off the Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group will continue to be implemented under a separate management team to be determined, according to the announcement.
