The cookbook Must, may & show off comes out this week in honor of the presenter’s 60th birthday.
Three categories of dishes
The recipes in the book are divided into three categories. ‘Must’ for quick dishes, ‘may’ for more elaborate meals and ‘show off’ for when the home cooks really have all the time.
Including family stories
In the book, the duo not only share their family recipes, but also many family stories. Although Paul and Kas are both culinary gourmets, they are rarely found together in the kitchen. Everyone has their own approach. Paul cooks by feel, while Kas occasionally breaks through in his precision.
closer bond
However, father and son have grown closer to each other by cooking for this cookbook. “I never thought that I would do this with my son,” says Paul de Leeuw, who was told in November that he was cancer-free. The Telegraph† On Instagram, he calls the cookbook ‘the best gift’.

Eating together
Food was and still is very important in the family of Paul and Kas. They always eat together, at the table, the TV is off and the telephones go into the fruit bowl. And breakfast on Sunday was sacred. “I got it from my family,” Paul says in the podcast Mangiare! “My father was a businessman and was always away during the week. We always ate together on Sunday evenings. And on Sunday morning we had an extensive breakfast with croissants and eggs.”
