FC Augsburg has found a successor to Jess Thorup: Sandro Wagner comes from the national team and takes over as a coach at the Swabians.
Sandro Wagner is a real coup for FC Augsburg after the separation from Jess Thorup. At the end of April, the assistant coach of the German national team announced that they left the German Football Association after the final Four of the Nations League (June 8th). Now it is clear where the 37-year-old, whose center of life is located in Unterhaching, is drawn.
At FC Augsburg, Wagner will sign a contract on Wednesday until 2028, as the association confirmed. For Julian Nagelsmann’s current assistant, it will be the first stop as head coach in the Bundesliga.

Wagner had successfully trained the SpVgg Unterhaching for two years, which he left after promotion to the 3. League 2023. Since September of the same year he has been with Benjamin Glück assistant coach from Nagelsmann.
