In addition to their own songs, the band also played Cologne carnival songs.
To the surprise of all Rhenish fans, the Düsseldorf band Toten Hosen played a concert as part of the Cologne Carnival. The rockers were guests at the “carnival sport” of the rhythmic gymnastics team. Visitors could see Campino jumping across the stage in a hippie costume.
Celebrate with Cologne carnival songs
The program of the party series, which has traditionally taken place on Carnival Saturday for years, traditionally remains secret until the end. The event is usually sold out straight away. But carnival supporters certainly weren’t expecting a spontaneous Toten Hosen show.
The band not only played their own songs like “Wünsch dir was” and “Tage wie die”, but also Cologne carnival songs to unite everyone present for the fifth season. The band also covered the doctors’ track “Scream for Love”.
“We come in peace!”
After their performance, the group shared a picture of themselves in hippie outfits on Instagram and wrote: “We come in peace! Five people from Düsseldorf in Cologne: Helau and Alaaf!” They continue to write that they had a “wonderful” time and will continue to celebrate.

Despite the ongoing rivalry, many fans were enthusiastic about Düsseldorf’s visit to Cologne. There were numerous positive comments on social media such as: “Düsseldorf and Cologne can do something together!“ or “ea great surprise!“
