Tremaine Emory, founder of the Denim Tears brand, is the new creative director at Supreme.

Emory started working for the US streetwear brand this week, according to The Business of Fashion magazine. He will work closely with the design team and Supreme founder James Jebbia.

Collaboration expert comes to collaboration brand

With his own label Denim Tears, the designer deals with Afro-American narratives and, with the help of collaborations, works on the African diaspora from a cultural and political point of view, as recently in cooperation with the shoe brand Ugg. According to BoF, he will continue to design for Denim Tears.

Emory’s new workplace is also known for its collaborations. The streetwear brand recently collaborated in a dual collab with footwear brand Timberland and US baseball team the New York Yankees, as well as outerwear brand Dickies.

Both Dickies and Timberland are both owned by Supreme parent VF Corporation. The US clothing group acquired Supreme at the end of 2020 for 2.1 billion US dollars (1.7 billion euros). Supreme has also set its sights on the German market, opening its first flagship store in Berlin in November.
