AZ has won the Youth League – NH Sport

In a well-filled stadium in Geneva, where the match was played due to the great interest, AZ started the final very convincingly. The team of trainer Jan Sierksma already eliminated superpowers Eintracht Frankfurt, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Sporting Portugal in the run-up to the final and was the favorite for the overall victory.

In the opening phase, Jayden Addai was by far the most dangerous man on the Alkmaar side with a number of long shots. However, he got the best chance from a corner kick when the ball fell right at his feet and he pushed Hajduk keeper Buljan to the limit. In the meantime, Ernest Poku saw his bet being tapped over by the goalkeeper, who was quite tested.

Ruling AZ

Halfway through the first half, the Hajduk fans demanded attention. The fanatical Croatian supporters, who traveled with almost 10,000 fans, threw fireworks on the field and even near AZ goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro. However, Hajduk’s team made little impression and AZ prevailed. Addai fired another blast towards the target, but Buljan always proved to be an obstacle. Just before half-time, Jayden Addai was allowed to moor for a penalty kick. Vuskovic committed a stupid foul on Poku, who wasn’t even dangerous at the time. The good goalkeeper Buljan still went to the right corner, but Addai shot the penalty just outside his reach: 1-0.

Madness

In the second half, Mexx Meerdink came directly within the lines. The striker only joined the selection this morning after he played with the first against RKC last night. With Meerdink in the line, AZ continued to dominate. Although goalkeeper Owusu-Oduro had to make a good save on a shot from Antunovic that seemed to be heading towards the intersection.

AZ dominated the match and also had plenty of opportunities to extend their lead. The odds also paid off for the Alkmaarders after 70 minutes. Poku passed a number of opponents on the side, came in and shot the second into the far corner with his chocolate leg: 2-0. Five minutes later, AZ scored again. Poku had a nice one-two with Meerdink and then finished coolly. Where substitute Meerdink was the principal, he was the scorer a few minutes later. He outplayed his opponent and hit hard: 4-0. In the final phase, Meerdink ended the game with the fifth goal.

For the first time in history, a Dutch club seizes the Youth League. AZ dealt with Hajduk Split’s peers in the final by winning 5-0.
