Supporters association Nieuw Noord of SC Heerenveen has waved goodbye to SC Cambuur and FC Groningen in the premier league in a playful way.
At the provincial border to Groningen, signs have been placed near the highway where the premier league starts and ends. The same signs have also been placed on the side of the road at Grouw.
In addition, supporters of Heerenveen visited all first division clubs in the night from Saturday to Sunday. A no-turning sign has been hung at all exit sections.
That sign has stickers with the text ‘#Cambuur is back!’ and ‘Together to the Kitchen Champion Division’. A reference to the clubs’ marketing slogans. In recent years, Cambuur has regularly used the slogan ‘#Cambuur is coming!’, while Groningen’s policy plan has the title ‘Together to the Grote Markt’.
Cambuur and Groningen recently relegated to the first division. Heerenveen wants to secure the play-offs for European football against Go Ahead Eagles in the Abe Lenstra stadium on Sunday afternoon.
