Supporters association Ajax (SVA) is disappointed after the decision of the municipality that any celebration may not take place in the city. The association speaks of a ‘poor personnel policy’, but this time also understands it.
“We emphasize that it really has to be a one-off,” says director Fabian Nagtzaam. “And that the personnel policy must be in order next year, so that a celebration can take place for all Amsterdammers.”
If Ajax becomes champion on Wednesday, according to the municipality, that will only be celebrated in the Johan Cruijff Arena itself. “That is very unfortunate. Because you see that people come from outside the stadium at a ceremony. Usually it concerns 100,000 people. Ajax belongs to all of us, everyone should be able to enjoy a ceremony.”
Nagtzaam was informed by Ajax this afternoon. “Ajax cannot do anything about this, it is due to the lack of security guards.” According to him, the club has been presented with a fait accompli.
There may also be a party in the vicinity of the Johan Cruijff Arena after the game. Nagtzaam does not dare to predict how many supporters will come to Johan Cruijff Boulevard on Wednesday evening after the game. “We all speak before our turn. We only speak of a ceremony when the score is like this, and then you have a chance of more Ajax players.”
