Support for Into Nature, art manifestation wants to go to Vamberg after Borger-Odoorn

Art manifestation Into Nature receives support from the Mondriaan Fund to further develop from Drenthe in the field of visual art and nature.

The fund awards the biennial art manifestation 25,000 euros to show art more often, along a route in one of the Drenthe municipalities. The money will be used, among other things, to have young and talented artists from the Northern Netherlands make work.

According to artistic director Hilde de Bruijn, the contribution can help to ‘connect and draw attention to the special quality of the North, landscape and nature with visual art’. “It not only enables us to have artists conduct research, but also to keep them in the region.”

The VAM mountain as a location for visual arts

This summer Into Nature will take place in the municipality of Borger-Odoorn. Next year, the event wants to settle in the municipality of Midden-Drenthe and make use of the VAM mountain, among other things. In this context, discussions are held with artists such as Ra’fat Ali, Alex Murphy and Jurjen Galema.

The award is part of a series of contributions from the Mondriaan Fund: 5.8 million euros have been distributed among 31 art venues in the Netherlands. Campis in Assen and the Bierumerschool in Bierum had their applications rejected. The fund previously supported Galerie Sign and Het resort in Groningen and Kunsthuis Syb and VHDG in Friesland.
