The Swedish recycling company Renewcell signed purchase agreements with three international recyclers of used clothing shortly before the turn of the year. In addition to the German company Soex, Texaid from Switzerland and Sysav from Sweden were among the new partners, Renewcell announced. They would now “deliver thousands of tons of textile waste annually, which will be recycled in the new Renewcell plant in Sundsvall”. The deliveries are therefore “used clothing and other textiles collected from the inside that cannot be sold in second-hand stores”.

The agreement gives Renewcell “a strong regional supplier network,” said Chief Operating Officer (COO) Martin Stenfors in a press release. The company is also pleased to offer its partners “a profitable, circular economy alternative to downcycling, burning or disposing” of textiles that are not suitable for second-hand sales.

Re: NewCell AB (Renewcell) was founded in 2012. It has developed a patented process to process cellulosic textile waste into circulose, a sustainable raw material for new fibers.
