Supplies from Lotocki’s brother are seized at customs

A taxi with a Paraguayan license plate tried to enter Argentina with a package whose registered recipient was Diego Lotocki, younger brother of the controversial specialist Aníbal Lotocki. The customs agents prevented the circulation of the vehicle and discovered that the box contained 30 ampoules of a substance used for face lifting and a syringe with hyaluronic acid.

According to Customs, the merchandise seized at the international border crossing that connects the city of Inns with Incarnation, would be valued at one million pesos and the fine for the violation could reach three times that value. At the time of the investigation, the customs personnel asked the driver if he had anything to declare and the man, of Paraguayan nationality, stated that he was carrying a package for an Argentine client.

The agency’s agents decided to use a scanner. The images revealed the presence of glass containers with a substance inside. Given the quantity of the product, it was estimated that it could have commercial purposes, so they asked the driver to open the package to display its contents. Inside the box there was a container that contained 30 face-lifting ampoules, brand Isradermand a syringe with hyaluronic acid, brand Sofiderm. The products were of Israeli origin and lacked the health guarantees necessary for their legal importation.

Diego Lotocki, is a nutritionist and lives in Misiones, a few weeks ago in an interview on América TV he reported that he works with one of his cousins, who is a plastic surgeon. “I do public relations more than anything,” he said in dialogue with In the afternoon and clarified: “We have nothing to do with my brother. We don’t work together. Each one works independently. We do Botox, hyaluronic acid. They are minimal and non-invasive things. “We don’t do surgery.”

The importation of this type of merchandise requires the endorsement of the National Food, Drug and Technology Administration Medical (ANMAT), without which its import is prohibited. The aforementioned certification is of utmost importance because it guarantees that the medical elements that will come into contact with people’s bodies are safe and comply with the standards applied by the health authority. In local jurisprudence, the lack of intervention by the ANMAT regarding these products constitutes a violation of the decree 1490/92.

On the other hand, according to specialists in commercial law, the maneuver also represents a violation of the Baggage Regime, established in the articles 489 and 490 of the Customs Code. For this reason, the importation of this type of merchandise was not allowed and was seized.

Customs has been carrying out strong control over these types of products, which can put the health of the Argentine population at risk. A few weeks ago, customs personnel discovered that a Costa Rican surgeon was trying to bring breast prostheses into the country in a suitcase without the corresponding health endorsements.
