Supervisor of Ghent prison about hopeless situation after serious aggression: “184 internees for 244 cells: that is a time bomb” | Domestic

“A time bomb.” This is how Pierre Lefranc describes the situation in the Ghent prison after the serious aggression between an internee and some guards. The chairman of the prison supervisory committee is sad to see that, for example, there is only one psychiatrist who is given half a day a week for 187 internees – who do not actually belong behind bars. “It’s a wonder there aren’t more incidents.”
