Superveloce Testalarga, MV Agusta’s latest one-off

It’s called Testalarga, the same nickname given in 1973 to the Grand Prix three-cylinder driven by Giacomo Agostini: the new one-off from MV Agusta is based on the already super-exclusive Superveloce Ago

Through its social channels MV Agusta has announced its latest one-off, yet another work of art on two wheels that is preparing to cross the gates of Schiranna: it is called Testalarga, like the 500 from the Grand Prix 1973 from the ace of aces, Giacomo Agostini, and derives from the already super-exclusive Superveloce Ago produced in only 311 units. In this case, however, we are talking about a unique piece that is characterized by an even more evocative and refined setting, full of references to the glorious racing past of the Varese house.

GRAND PRIX SET-UP

The particular color, a two-tone livery that mixes red and silver with some black finish and the yellow of the number plates: in this case there is the 3 instead of the displayed 1 on the Ago version, from which, however, some aesthetic gems are inherited such as the leather strap on the tank and numerous components made of carbon fiber. The perforated saddle is also red, while the gold of the frame (a solution already seen on the Supeveloce S) matches the spoked wheels and other details, such as the quick-closing fuel cap knob. The holes drilled in the lower part of the fairing are new, a nice reference to the three-cylinder GP as well as the triple exhaust with 2-1 asymmetrical outlets, already seen and present in the accessories catalog of the brand.

EXCLUSIVE ALSO IN THE PRICE

“The 3-cylinder configuration is nothing new for MV Agusta” explains one of the latest Facebook posts from the Schiranna-based company. “MV’s legendary racing history sees some of the most important and effective racing bikes with a 3-cylinder engine in the frame . Particularly noteworthy is the 1973 Testalarga, a bike that went around the world winning, race after race, at the hands of the legendary Giacomo Agostini. The name Testalarga derives from the oversized cylinder heads ”. On a technical level, there should be no significant news, neither in terms of cycling nor on the mechanical-electronic level: with a 0-100 km / h in 3.05 seconds and a 0-200 in 9 seconds it is reasonable to expect the same 147 hp and 88 nm of couple of sisters. Instead, the price will change, which has not yet been disclosed but will easily exceed 40 thousand euros.
