There are currently rumors of departures from FC Bayern about four top stars – Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané. In addition, the future of the veterans Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller is open.
Who stays? Who could actually leave the German record champions? sport.de gives an overview of the current situation with Munich’s hottest personalities.
Joshua Kimmich
Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Manchester City are said to be looking into signing the leading player.
There are also repeated rumors that the 28-year-old, whose wife is currently expecting their fourth child, could imagine a new challenge abroad.
However, FC Bayern definitely doesn’t want to let Kimmich go. “Of course we want to see him on the ball for us as long as possible and will convey this to him in the contract negotiations,” President Herbert Hainer recently announced to “Sport Bild”.
Kimmich’s contract expires in 2025. If negotiations about his future do not take place soon, the transfer rumors are likely to gain even more momentum.
Alphonso Davies
Before the dismissal of former sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, Davies was reportedly close to extending his contract, which expires in 2025.
Since then, negotiations have come to a standstill. His busy advisor Nedal Huoseh publicly flirted with a change of club several times.
A well-known buyer would probably already be available: Real Madrid are said to have chosen Davies as their desired player for the left side of the defense.
Most recently it was said in Spain that club boss Florentino Pérez was hoping for a deal next summer along the lines of the signing of Toni Kroos in 2014.
Then, according to the Royals’ alleged mind games, FC Bayern would be under pressure in the Davies case because of the contract expiring a year later and would be prepared to let him go for a sum below his actual market value.
Jamal Musiala
The most valuable player in the current Munich squad naturally also arouses desire among the competition – especially since there are currently no concrete negotiations with Musiala about an extension of his contract, which expires in 2026.
According to “Sky”, the 20-year-old should be able to imagine a move to Real Madrid or Manchester City if he leaves FC Bayern.
In particular, the rumors about the English treble winner have recently gained momentum. Star coach Pep Guardiola wants to convince the national player, who partly grew up in England, to return to the island, reported “Bild”.
The Spanish portal “El Nacional” even wrote about a kind of “all-in order” in the Musiala case, which Guardiola is said to have left with City’s very rich owners.
But one thing is also clear: FC Bayern will not let its greatest jewel go without a fight. “Sky” recently reported at least an initial loose exchange with his advisors.
Leroy Sane
According to “Sport Bild”, a fundamental decision will be made next summer for the currently strong national player: either Sané will look abroad again after his guest appearance at Manchester City between 2016 and 2021, or he will extend his contract with FC Bayern, which expires in 2025, in the long term.
Liverpool FC are said to be interested in signing the 27-year-old winger. For now, Sané wants to concentrate on the sporting challenges that lie ahead of him, according to “Sport1”.
However, FC Bayern wants to put the pedal to the metal when it comes to personnel. “We will be holding discussions in the next few weeks,” sports director Christoph Freund recently announced.
Sané is “an exceptionally good player for Bayern Munich, a key player,” praised the official and added: “It would be nice if he could stay in Munich for a long time.”
Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer
The question about the future of the old stars Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer is even more acute than the other personal details.
The two’s contracts expire next summer. From January 1st, interested clubs will be able to officially approach them and try to convince them to change.
According to “kicker”, future talks between FC Bayern and Neuer are planned before the turn of the year.
How the 37-year-old presents himself when he returns between the posts after his month-long injury break will also play a role. He should be confident that he can play at the top level for several more years.
According to “Sport Bild”, Müller had actually already made the plan to end his career in the European Championship summer of 2024.
However, because of his current good condition, he can now imagine adding another season – and that’s not surprising for “his” FC Bayern.
Those responsible also apparently want to speak to the original Munich native this year.
