Superstar Kamil Stoch’s failure confirmed

In ski jumping, mat jumping is on the program in Klingenthal this weekend. Superstar Kamil Stoch is missing from the last stop of the FIS Summer Grand Prix due to illness.

“Kamil is fighting a respiratory infection, he is taking medication and we don’t want to take any unnecessary risks. He will recover fully at home so that he can slowly resume training next week,” said Polish ski jumping head coach Thomas Thurnbichler in a statement association.

Stoch had therefore already missed the previous weekend in Hinzenbach. “This is not the ideal situation for him, but Kamil has time. We need him healthy and fit for the fall and winter. He doesn’t have to rush into anything now,” said Thurnbichler, explaining the decision.

“It is important not to push the athlete who is taking antibiotics too quickly,” the Austrian told the “skijumping.pl” portal a few days ago.

The Polish squad for Klingenthal consists of Kacper Juroszek, Dawid Kubacki, Pawel Wasek, Aleksander Zniszczol and Piotr Zyla. Stoch, however, will continue to recover.

Ski jumping: World Cup season starts on November 25th

The coming ski jumping season starts on November 25th in Ruka, Finland. After stops in Lillehammer (Norway) and Engelberg (Switzerland), the legendary Four Hills Tournament takes place at the end of December.

Stoch has already won the ski jumping classic around the turn of the year three times in his successful career. At 36 years old, the three-time Olympic champion is still one of the biggest stars in ski jumping.

Last season, Stoch finished 14th in the overall World Cup. At the Four Hills Tournament, the veteran came fifth behind Halvor Egner Granerud, Dawid Kubacki, Anze Lanisek and Piotr Zyla.
