Supermarkets can’t raise prices indefinitely

We already pay more for food such as bread, milk and vegetables in supermarkets, but products cannot become more expensive with impunity. “We cannot put all cost increases on the consumer’s plate, which is why intensive discussions are being held with products and suppliers. Everyone in the chain has to absorb a part,” says Marc Jansen, director of the Central Food Trade Agency (CBL) in conversation with NU.nl.
