Karateka Johanna Kneer (25) and Muhammed Özdemir (19) were crowned German champions of all classes in the Kumite competition in Düsseldorf.
Double European champion Kneer (+68 kg) triumphed in the final of the “Supercup”, in which the champions of the weight classes compete against each other, in the women’s competition with 2:0 against Madeleine Schröter (-68 kg).
Özdemir (-60 kg) had just beaten Tim Steiner (+67 kg) in the men’s final. The fight ended 1-1, since Özdemir scored the first point, he won by senshu.
In the kata discipline, in addition to the title fights, the farewell of an old master was the focus. Ilja Smorguner (39) won the men’s title against Lukas Grimm (3:2), after which the vice world champion from 2014 announced the end of his career.
