A wonderful goal by Anwar Bensabouh in the 93rd minute left Telstar a point in the game against TOP Oss. In Velsen-Zuid, the game for twelfth place ended in 2-2. Rein Smit scored the other goal for the White Lions.
The initial phase was fine for Andries Jonker’s team, who opted for a 3-5-2 formation. The attacking duo Smit/Van Velzen was regularly found and that resulted in a number of opportunities. In the twentieth minute it was also hit for Telstar after a clumsy loss of ball at TOP Oss. Smit took over the ball, passed the keeper and scored well from a difficult angle: 1-0.
Telstar seemed to be able to push through, but as the game progressed, the Ossenaren got better in the game. Giovanni just missed, but otherwise it was TOP Oss that struck the clock. Just before half time, that resulted in the equalizing goal. Jearl Margaritha made it to the backline after a nice move and saw Joshua Sanches score from his cross.
Backlog by Tejan
At the start of the second company, Telstar also had a hard time with the team of trainer Bob Peeters. Goalkeeper Ronald Koeman Jr. had a feline save in the house after Kaj Tejan’s header, but moments later it was hit. Born from Amsterdam Tejan could just keep going into the counter punch and the ball went in through the head of Özgür Aktas.
In the final phase, the North Hollanders tried to force the 2-2 by playing more opportunistic football, but the long balls did not really create great opportunities. TOP Oss did become dangerous in the counter. Dean Guezen didn’t decide the game early, because he hit the bar.
Great equalizer in the final minute
And that was fatal for the visitors in the extra time. Substitute Bensabouh, who made his comeback after months of injury, brought the stadium into ecstasy by scoring the equalizer in a brilliant way. Because of the point, the difference in the battle for twelfth place remains two points in favor of TOP Oss. Telstar has played one game less.
